“Li’l Ricky Blues” is the new Bay Area Pop Combo moving forward from the love of the Blues and the excitement of live performance. This is a live band, playing the tunes that get the dancers on the floor till they can’t move no more. Replete with the traditional Stratocaster guitar sound, the band’s origins hearken back to the original blues bands of over fifty years ago. They were the first pop combos, playing the new urban 12-bar blues and the popular hit songs of the day. Small, compact, and with a driving groove and full sound, “Li’l Ricky Blues” follows in that tradition with the music of today.

“Li’l Ricky Blues” was founded because Li’l Ricky wanted to play his guitar more. A veteran of many professional acts over the past years, he is also a recording artist, songwriter, producer, arranger, and agent provocateur of rock & roll. Li’l Ricky went back to the source of American pop music to start this journey. He listened to Albert King, Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Freddy King, Lightning Hopkins, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Keith Richards, The Meters, and other artists.

The blues gods smiled upon him and connected him to the lovely Minxie on bass and Pauly Walnuts on guitar through their connection at Under The Sun Studios in Concord. A few phone calls later, and his old friend Buddahaid joined in on drums.

“Li’l Ricky Blues” also writes their own pop tunes, and the band is very excited about playing them for you and your friends.
